On the evening of June 4, 2013, Meridian hosted its Board and Council Dinner, which included members of the Board of Trustees, Corporate and Advisory Councils, along with Meridian friends and supporters. We were honored to be joined by a delegation of Indian Parliamentarians, as well, as part of Meridian’s partnership with the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) on a joint India Initiative. Meridian’s Chairman, Governor Jim Blanchard, opened the evening, followed by brief welcome remarks by Meridian’s President and CEO, Ambassador Stuart Holliday. Mr. Baijayant “B.J.” Panda, who was elected to the “Lower House” of India’s Parliament in 2009, shared remarks with the audience, along with our featured speaker for the evening, Congressman Ed Royce, who serves as the Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee. Congressman Royce shared insights on the U.S.-India relationship and took questions from the floor about the current immigration bill and the much discussed “pivot to Asia,” among others.
