Meridian Global Dialogue Series: Preview of the IX Summit of the Americas
In the immediate lead-up to the IX Summit of the Americas in Los Angeles June 6-10, 2022, Meridian brought together senior diplomats from the Western Hemisphere and private sector leaders on June 1, 2022 for a preview of the agenda and priorities for the Summit. The group was joined by Juan Gonzalez, Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director for Western Hemisphere Affairs at the National Security Council. The conversation was facilitated by Michael Allen, Managing Director, Beacon Global Strategies and Meridian Trustee.
The dynamic breakfast discussion previewed the major themes of the Summit, namely: trade, health, digital transformation, energy and sustainability, rule of law, and economic inclusion. The group devoted time to the contributing factors of and cooperation needed to address migration in the region. Private sector representatives also shared information about the IV CEOs Summit of the Americas, held in partnership between the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the U.S. Department of State.
