China: Regional Security

  • Gain exposure to U.S. foreign policy formulation by government and non-government actors in Washington and in regional centers of policy analysis and implementation;
  • Examine U.S. perspectives on East Asia security issues, especially among Southeast Asian littoral nations and in Northeast Asia;
  • Study the development, structure, and evolution of multinational regional security alliances in East Asia;
  • Gain insight into U.S. policy and presence in the South China Sea;
  • Understand aspects of U.S. security policy in Northeast Asia and other implications of the U.S. “Asian rebalance”; and
  • Explore the significance to regional security of the realignment of U.S. forces in the Asia-Pacific region.
