In 2009, China announced plans to expand healthcare system reforms with the goal of providing universal healthcare by 2020. With a growing population of over 1.3 billion, China has a rising demand for quality healthcare services. Driving this demand are factors such as aging demographics, public healthcare reforms, and increasing affluence and urbanization. In addressing these issues, China is working to improve the management and day-to-day functions of healthcare facilities through the use of advanced medical technologies and healthcare management best practices.
On a two-week visit to the United States, decision-makers from China's National Healthcare Security Administration will learn about U.S. health system operations, including organizational structure, healthcare and health insurance policies, and innovative U.S. technologies that can improve patient care and safety. The itinerary features training, meetings, and site visits with U.S. institutions, government agencies, and firms that supply related products, services, and solutions.
The U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) is hosting the China Healthcare Executive Leadership Training Program to familiarize delegates with U.S. policies, technologies, standards, and industry best practices in the fields of healthcare and hospital administration. The 11 delegates consist of government officials from the National Healthcare Security Administration and provincial medical insurance bureaus. The visit will provide U.S. companies, universities, and hospitals with the chance to learn about opportunities in the field.
U.S. businesses, universities, and hospitals can connect with key decision-makers at the U.S.-China Healthcare Symposium and Reception, where they can learn about the latest developments and project opportunities in China’s healthcare sector.
The reception will be held on Monday, August 26, 2019 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Meridian International Center.
U.S. companies, hospitals, and universities are welcome to attend presentations by the delegates and HCP member companies from 9:00am-5:00pm, prior to the reception.
This event is organized in collaboration with the U.S.-China Healthcare Cooperation Program (HCP). HCP, in consultation with the American and Chinese governments, works to strengthen partnerships while leveraging healthcare industry strengths in public health, policy research, training, R&D, and technology, with the ultimate goal of expanding patients’ access to healthcare services in China.
