The Ukraine Investigative Journalism Program is a U.S. based tour sponsored by the U.S. Embassy in Kyiv. The two participants were recipients of the Fifth Annual U.S. Embassy/Ukrainska Pravda Investigative Journalism Competition, held earlier this year in Ukraine. The competition, which recognizes exceptional written and video reports from young journalists and journalism students in Ukraine, sends the two first place winners to the United States on a professional study tour, organized and implemented by the Meridian International Center. A jury of select editors, senior journalists, media watchdogs, media lawyers, and government spokesmen rated the submissions based on their technical quality, newsworthiness, documentation, and display of investigative skill. This year’s first place winners were Mr. Oleksandr Humeniuk and Ms. Anastasiia Ivantsova.
