On May 17, 2018, the Meridian Corporate Council partnered with MasterCard to host a discussion with Assistant Secretary of State Manisha Singh. As the first woman to be appointed to this role, Assistant Secretary Singh was unanimously confirmed by the Senate and sworn in late November 2017. With less than a year at the Bureau of Economic and Business Affairs, she leads a team of over 200 that prepares American businesses for the critical opportunities and challenges facing the global economy today. This roundtable allowed Meridian Corporate Council companies to engage in an open, neutral dialogue with Assistant Secretary Singh.

Assistant Secretary Singh is a firm believer that American companies are the country’s best ambassadors, as they bring different perspectives and a diversity of ideas that lead to better thoughts and progress in the long run. The Bureau of Economic and Business Affairs serves as a hub for American economic officers posted in embassies across the globe, making it the perfect representative of the strong relationship between the public and private sector through its promotion of economic security and prosperity both domestically and internationally. Through the Global Business @ Meridian program, representatives of the corporations that make up the Meridian Corporate Council are able to discuss issues such as international trade and economic policy with leaders like Assistant Secretary Singh.
