As partners of influential leaders, congressional and ambassadorial spouses play a pivotal role in supporting and advancing bipartisan initiatives and international diplomacy, strengthening both global and domestic cooperation. On September 12, 2024, the 56th Annual Meridian Ball Congressional Co-Chairs, Dr. Janine Bera and Mr. Charles Capito, Jr., hosted a luncheon celebrating spouse’s key role in fostering collaboration and reinforcing mutual respect in governance and global engagement. During the event, Dr. Bera and Mr. Capito shared their personal experiences and underscored the broader impact of spouses of Members of Congress. They shared insights into how their roles extend beyond personal support, emphasizing the crucial contributions that spouses make in fostering bipartisan and international relations.

As the leading nonpartisan diplomacy center in the nation, Meridian is dedicated to strengthening connections between key diplomatic figures and recognizing their role in shaping a stronger and more prosperous future. This luncheon was held in honor of the 56th Annual Meridian Ball, which unites leaders from both the public and private sector to celebrate Meridian’s ongoing efforts to prepare leaders for the future.
