Promoting a Fair and Equitable Justice System

• To examine the underlying principles of the U.S. judicial and legal systems;

• To provide an understanding of how the rule of law is established and promoted;

• To explore the civil, criminal, juvenile, and military justice systems;

• To examine the administration of courts, case management, trial by jury system, role of the public defender and alternative dispute resolution; and

• To highlight the role of professional associations and citizen groups in advocating for and monitoring the judicial system to ensure fairness and transparency.
