NGO Management II brought together 24 NGO leaders from around the world to connect with their U.S. counterparts. As a group, they met with a variety of nonprofit organizations across Washington DC; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; and Colorado Springs and Denver, Colorado. The group split into three teams for targeted meetings on community development and women’s empowerment (Manchester and Concord, New Hampshire); cultural heritage and environment protection (New Orleans, Louisiana); and youth development and community health (St. Louis, Missouri). Throughout their journey, the group participated in workshops on fundraising, leadership, and community-building; had a chance to understand U.S. approaches to volunteerism through firsthand experiences with volunteer projects; and got a sense of the diverse nature of U.S. culture, geography, communities and NGOs. As one participant reflected:
"Volunteering holds the power to change lives and communities. It was a common thread...the belief that when people give their time and talents to a cause, they create ripples of positive change...This trip has been nothing short of life-changing, and I’m excited to bring these lessons back home to [my organization]. We’ve seen the possibilities, and now, more than ever, I believe that our efforts can grow into something truly transformative for our community"
