On April 27, 2022, the Meridian Corporate Council partnered with Netflix to host a virtual convening with The Honorable Jack Markell, U.S. Ambassador to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, for a conversation of the United States’ agenda at the OECD and how sustainability impacts the private sector. The discussion was moderated by The Honorable Drew Maloney, President and CEO at American Investment Council and member of the Meridian Board of Trustees. During the conversation, Ambassador Markell highlighted the OECD’s mission of promoting policy coordination and economic freedom among developed nations, while improving the economy and well-being of the general population.
Ambassador Jack Markell is an American politician who currently serves as the United States ambassador to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, an organization focused on stimulating economic progress and world trade. Ambassador Markell served from 2009-2017 as the Governor of Delaware. During his tenure, Delaware emerged from the great recession with the strongest job growth in the region and among the best private sector wage growth in the country. Ambassador Markell led significant investments in improved early childhood education, language immersion programs, heightened college access for low-income students and some of the most aggressive workforce development efforts in the country. Prior to public service, Ambassador Markell helped lead the wireless technology revolution as the 13th employee at Nextel (a name he coined), where he served as Senior Vice President for Corporate Development.
