On October 15th, Meridian held its 12th installment of the Global Business@Meridian downtown breakfast discussion for 2013. The discussion focused on trade and investment in Colombia, and featured insights from His Excellency Carlos Urrutia, Ambassador of Colombia to the United States. Hosted by Bill Lane, Corporate Council Member and Government Affairs Director for Caterpillar, Inc., the event drew 30 corporate leaders together to engage in an off-the-record dialogue on the current business climate and opportunities for foreign direct investment in Colombia, as well as on the progress made through the U.S. – Colombia Trade Promotion Agreement (TPA), put into effect on May 15, 2012.
Ambassador Urrutia was accompanied by Embassy representatives, Ms. Pilar Fernandez, Minister Counselor, Economic Affairs and Mr. Alfonso Cuéllar, Deputy Chief of Mission. Council Members represented include: AT&T, Barclays, Coca-Cola, Chevron, The Collins | Johnson Group, DCI Group, FedEx, Fluor, Hess, Microsoft, Visa, among other guests.
