Developing Arabic Language Media in Israel

This project provided Arab journalists from Israel with a deep dive into the American media landscape, offering invaluable insights into professional norms and diverse media practices. During their visit, participants engaged with academics, government officials, and media outlets that serve underrepresented communities, including Latino and Native American groups. By fostering cross-cultural exchange and learning, the project empowered journalists to enhance their reporting and strengthen the role of media in promoting inclusivity and diverse voices within society.

Project Objectives

  • Gain an understanding of the evolution, current status, and trends in journalistic investigations and research in the United States;
  • Assess the impact of social media, citizen journalism, and alternative forms of reporting within the context of providing factual, accurate, and verifiable information; and
  • Examine efforts by communities and experts to fact check news to ensure accuracy in news reporting.
