On April 26, 2019, the Meridian Corporate Council partnered with Squire Patton Boggs to host a luncheon featuring Ambassador Tibor P. Nagy, Jr, Assistant Secretary for African Affairs at the U.S. Department of State.
Given its rapid growth and great economic potential, the African continent is set to be the site of an impending economic boom. Sub-Saharan African countries, such as Ethiopia, Nigeria, Rwanda, The Democratic Republic of the Congo and Angola are proving to be attractive places for investment and trade; the countries have also been praised for their efforts to achieve economic modernization.
Ambassador Nagy outlined programs that promote U.S – African relations — such as the Women’s Global Development and Prosperity initiative, Young African Leaders Initiative and Prosper Africa. These programs promote economic development and U.S interest in Africa and serve as tools to promote investment opportunities.
The continuous economic progression around the African continent is becoming evident in the international community, and it provides U.S. businesses with additional expansion potential for numerous markets.
