International Women of Courage

Since 2013, Meridian, in partnership with the U.S. Department of State, has had the honor of welcoming the Secretary of State’s International Women of Courage (IWOC) awardees to Washington. This prestigious award was established by Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice to pay tribute to women around the world who have courageously advocated for the rights, equality, and social progress of all citizens – often in the face of great personal adversity and danger. The Awardees’ visit to the United States includes practical training as well as engagement with both peers and officials in Washington and across the country who are invested in their work and vision.
