Yannick Djanhoun is a professional journalist from Côte d'Ivoire. He is publishing and editorial director of Tomorrow Magazine, created in 2010 and the first Ivorian media outlet exclusively dedicated to training and promoting youth in leadership and entrepreneurship.
Tomorrow Magazine was awarded third best online press company in 2016 by the Côte d'Ivoire Ministry of Communication and best digital magazine at the 2017 African Talent Awards. Yannick has conducted three interviews with African soccer legend Didier Drogba. These interviews, in which the former footballer addressed African youth, made the rounds on the web and were published on media outlets.
In 2019, Yannick became the Côte d'Ivoire correspondent for Radio France Internationale's (RFI) ''Alors, On Dit Quoi?" Each week, this program highlights issues linked to the daily lives of African youth. Since 2020 he has also been the Côte d'Ivoire correspondent for the international television channel Africanews. His duties include reporting on political, socio-cultural and economic news from Côte d'Ivoire. He covered the last presidential election in Côte d'Ivoire for this channel.
The project addressed a number of challenges facing media players in Côte d'Ivoire. Twenty-five journalists were selected from a pool of 200 applicants to join five online conferences for media professionals and learn from American journalists and the American journalistic landscape. Participants exchanged information on opportunities and support for each other in their professional tasks, emphasizing the importance of synergy for collective success. The initiative provided an opportunity for Ivorian media men and women to develop connections with the American media sector, and to feed their thinking on how to revitalize the sector in Cote D'Ivoire.
Yannick participated in the IVLP Project Edward R. Murrow Program for Journalists – New and Traditional Broadcast Media III, organized by the U.S. Department of State and Meridian International Center, in partnership with International Focus, Inc., International Institute of Wisconsin, Utah Council for Citizen Diplomacy and Global New Orleans.
Yannick's exchange experience led to the development of his IVLP Impact Award Project: "During my stay in the United States, I was able to meet experienced journalists who were passionate about their profession. I was able to see how local media were helping to shape American society."
