IVLP Impact Award Project: Criminal Justice Reforms - Quest for Universal Right to Bail

The project raised awareness about the state of the criminal justice system in Tanzania. Workshops were convened to inform lawyers and activists about the right to bail for all offenses.  Fifty lawyers and activists participated in the trainings. Lawyers and activists also conducted radio and TV talk show sessions to raise public awareness on the right to bail. Self-help books discussing bail were distributed to the public.

"We need to mobilize resources and bring more lawyers to [these] kinds of programs, for their understanding and for the bigger advocacy ahead." - Project Participant
