Steven Hilton is a solutions-focused Senior Executive and Consultant with 30-plus years of success leveraging his extensive experience in risk management and public and policy advocacy across the agriculture, food and beverage, legal, defense, technology, and pharmaceutical industries.
His broad areas of expertise include government and public affairs, communications, crisis management, international affairs, regulatory affairs, and startup counseling. Steve is the global head of government affairs for Cargill, Inc.; a 155-year-old company that is currently the largest privately-owned company in the United States by revenue and with physical operations in 70 countries and customers in 125. Cargill is a global conglomerate with a principal focus on agriculture production, trading, finance, technology, energy, and supply chain services.
Previously, Steve has held senior leadership positions in law, the military, and business. He has also served in senior government positions – as Deputy Assistant to the President in the Clinton White House, as a member of the Obama Transition, and as a Chief Counsel in the U.S. Senate. A 25-year military veteran, Steve achieved the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Army Reserve.
Steve is a graduate of Princeton University, the Army’s Command and General Staff College, and received his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center.
Along with his professional experience, Steve was appointed by President Clinton as a Commissioner of the American Battle Monuments Commission, which constructed the World War II, and the Korean War Memorials on the National Mall.
Steve's nonprofit board experience includes the Washington D.C. Board of Advisors for the Salvation Army, the National Restaurant Association, International Food and Beverage Alliance (IFBA), the United States Council of International Business (USCIB), the Board of Trustees of Chicago’s Goodman Theater, and is a founding board member of Blue Star Families.
