Samira Zakaria is an experienced marketing and public operations manager for the Global Dreams Hotel. Her aim is to attract and retain clients through the provision of first-class quality and affordable accommodation to corporate institutions for conferencing. She handles the preparation of strategic marketing plans for the approval of the board.
This project trained more than 100 young women on effective micro-entrepreneurship and helped them set up their own micro-enterprises. The training workshops, seminars, and networking events focused on topics such as how to access seed funding and how to identify resource networks. Participants were also provided with long-term business mentorship. By the end of the project, all the participants had set up a business bank account and officially registered their businesses.
Samira participated in the IVLP Project Women and Entrepreneurship organized by the U.S. Department of State and FHI 360, in partnership with Georgia Council for International Visitors, Global Ties Akron, and World Affairs Council of New Hampshire.
Samira's exchange experience led to the development of her IVLP Impact Award Project: "I decided to impact...my community [because of] the benefits and vast knowledge acquired during my stay as a participant of the International Visitors Leadership Program (IVLP). This, in my opinion, [will] empower the young and vulnerable women in my community."
