Reed Sandridge is an active voice in the current dialogue on global volunteerism and service. A life-long volunteer himself, he recently took his passion for volunteering to the public stage when he made a year-long commitment to volunteer once a week at a different organization and then share his adventure with the world at yearofgiving.org.
In addition to his public speaking and writing on volunteerism and philanthropy, Reed works with organizations that are committed to creating social value. He specializes in helping them use strategic storytelling as a way to more effectively reach their goals.
A product of both the corporate and nonprofit sectors, Reed has led organizations both in the U.S. and abroad in the areas of telecommunications, conference management, children’s health and conservation. He is the founder of Story Distillery and serves on the Board of Directors for Street Sense.
He received his bachelor’s degree in International Business and Spanish from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and has completed additional coursework at the Universidad de Valladolid (Spain) as well as the Instituto Tecnologico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (Mexico).
He currently resides in Washington, D.C. where he is working to publish his first book which is scheduled to be released in 2014.
As Theo’s mentor, Reed will help him create a service project that will take place at the end of the Everyday Heroes Fellowship. This service project will include volunteers from his community in Cameroon who will work together to accomplish the project.
