Marianna Smith is a Program Coordinator on the Young Leaders of the Americas Initiative (YLAI) within the GlobalConnect Division at Meridian International Center. Marianna joined the GlobalConnect division in the Spring of 2018. Prior to working for Meridian, Marianna worked for the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services as a Migrant Program Worker. While working in this department, Marianna managed Medicaid and nutritional assistance for migrants, drafted notices for changes in immigration policy, and organized social service awareness campaigns. Marianna has also previously worked as a Public Affairs Intern at the U.S. Department of State in La Paz, Bolivia. While in La Paz, Marianna implemented diplomatic events, oversaw the grant proposal process for the Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation, and coordinated national workshops. Marianna was also a U.S. Department of State grant recipient for the Indian Public Diplomacy Initiative in New Delhi, India. Marianna graduated from Alma College in 2017 with majors in Communication and Spanish.
