Mackie joined the GlobalConnect team as a Program Associate after serving as a Program Assistant intern during the summer of 2014. He graduated from Kenyon College in 2013 with a degree in History and a concentration in European Studies. Part of his undergraduate education was completed at CIEE’s Prague institute. Mackie’s time traveling and studying in Central and Eastern Europe inspired his senior thesis on the conditions and factors that contributed to the Czechoslovak Communist takeover in 1948. For this year-long project, he was fortunate enough to receive a grant to conduct research at the Hoover Institution at Stanford University. He is also a recent participant in the American University Graduate Gateway Program’s Global Business and Trade track. In the spring of 2014 he served as Program Assistant Intern at the World Affairs Councils of America. At Kenyon, Mackie was a four-year member of the lacrosse team and served as a captain his senior year. He is currently an assistant lacrosse coach at The George Washington University.
