Lilian Muscuta Goia Danso Teixeira is a Magistrate at the Public Ministry's Public Prosecution Office. Lilian holds a Master's degree in International Law and has experience as a Magistrate on Criminal investigation and related areas. For the past year, Lilian has been working as a Trafficking in Persons consultant, specifically in Child Trafficking.
This project raised awareness among the population regarding what Trafficking in Persons is and how to identify victims. The project also encouraged the government to charge and prosecute parties engaging in Trafficking in Persons in Guinea-Bissau. A 25-episode radio program was produced to discuss these issues. A partnership with the Judiciary police was created to add an emergency number for reporting cases of trafficking in persons.
Lilian participated in the IVLP Project Trafficking in Persons, organized by the U.S. Department of State and the Institute of International Education, in partnership with WorldDenver, World Trade Center Institute, Global Ties Iowa, WorldChicago, International Institute of Buffalo, El Paso Council for International Visitors, San Diego Diplomacy Council, and Global Ties Miami.
Lilian's exchange experience led to the development of her IVLP Impact Award Project: "My IVLP experience was door opening to new professional opportunities and improving my knowledge on Trafficking in Persons."
