Dr. Leonardo Gomes Menezes holds a degree in medicine from the Bahiana School of Medicine and Public Health, which he earned in 2004. He is currently Head of the Urology Service at Hospital São Marcos, partner at the Tibério Moreno Urological Clinic, urologist at São José Memorial Hospital, urologist at Maxclínicas - Specialized Clinics, titular member of the Brazilian Society of Urology and General Coordinator at SAMU Reef Metropolitan. He has experience in the field of medicine with an emphasis on urological surgery.
This project aimed to qualify and train the entire emergency network of public health services in Brazil connected to SAMU. The project created a unique and integrated response from the agencies that act during major emergencies and disasters. Training started in the capitals of the states of Northeast Brazil, following the first location Salvador-Bahia, Recife-Pernambuco, Natal-Rio Grande do Norte until all 9 capitals of the northeast were reached. The seminars defined concepts and held joint training for first responders in cases with multiple victims. The training also covered multisectoral coordination systems. This project's main goal was to train health and safety professionals to respond to events with multiple victims.
Dr. Leonardo Gomes was a participant in the IVLP Project Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management, organized by the U.S. Department of State and World Learning.
