IVLP Impact Award Project: Igniting Entrepreneurial Spirit: Empowering High School Dropouts Through Comprehensive Business Training

The project will provide 30 young people aged 18 years and above who have dropped out of three different high schools in Honiara, the capital of the Solomon Islands, with comprehensive entrepreneurship training. It will include workshops, mentorship sessions, and presentations from government, financial, and private sector institutions to equip participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to start and grow their own businesses. By targeting high school dropouts, the project provides a second chance for them to pursue economic independence and success through entrepreneurship. It also fosters economic growth, self-reliance, and reduces unemployment rates in the community.

The project's call for applications received a strong response, with 45 individuals applying, indicating significant interest in entrepreneurial development within the community. Starting October 9th, 30 participants will receive entrepreneurial training.

“By nurturing a culture of entrepreneurship and providing alternative pathways to success, this project will not only empower participants but also contribute to the long-term economic empowerment and social development of their communities.” – Lawrence Arukwai
