Kris Karafa’s business career has focused on the energy and infrastructure markets where Kris has managed and led the construction, development, and financing efforts for projects in the United States and abroad.
Prior to Gen X Energy, Kris served as Vice President at Venture Global LNG, Inc., working on the development of 30 MTPA of LNG export. Before joining Venture Global in 2015, Kris was Director of Corporate Development at South Louisiana Methanol, a US-based chemical start-up company, where he was responsible for managing the nonrecourse debt financing process for the USD 2 billion SLM facility.
Kris also held several roles within Bechtel in business development, strategy, finance, and construction management, working in the Middle East and the United States. As Manager of Finance and Development for Bechtel Enterprises, Bechtel’s internal development and consulting group, Kris screened infrastructure investments and led engagements in support of Bechtel’s operating companies as well.
As a Business Development Manager in Qatar, Kris maintained relationships in the Middle East, targeted business opportunities, and assisted with the development and submittal of infrastructure project proposals. Prior to this role, Kris supervised the construction of the main floor and selected areas of the Hamad International Airport’s (Qatar’s new international airport) main terminal building. Before his Bechtel experience, Kris served as an officer in the US Army for nine (9) years.
