He has strategized numerous events to combat human trafficking, including the Change Your World Tour, the Not For Sale Campaign, and the Be My Protector Campaign. Mr. Lim is an experienced public speaker, addressing social justice issues at universities, conferences, churches, and corporations worldwide. Apart from his activism, Mr. Lim is a veteran musician, composer, music director, and producer with over 15 albums. He co-founded a music label, a company called Change Your World, and an NGO called Be My Protector. Be My Protector developed the first app in South-East Asia to combat human trafficking. Mr. Lim's commitment to making a positive impact extends to his role as a pastor at Every Nation Petaling Jaya Church.
Kelvin's project centered around raising awareness and combating human trafficking issues in Malaysia. Through 17 "Pahlawan Teasers," engaging two-hour educational workshops, over 1500 participants were informed about the severity of human trafficking issues within the country. Two empowering events, bringing together schools in Seremban, specifically focused on refugee women and an evolve camp.
Kelvin's project promoted the use of the Be My Protector app, empowering community members to contribute to the safety of the larger community by reporting suspicious activities related to abuse and human trafficking. As a result, the app played a key role in uncovering multiple cases of abuse, leading to the rescue of a foreign laborer from slavery, showcasing its tangible impact on the ground.
The workshops inspired students and community members to share valuable information about locations suspected of engaging in sexual assault and human trafficking. Moreover, attendees expressed gratitude for the workshops, highlighting the importance of incorporation of self-defense techniques in the learning processes. The success of the program led to the recruitment of five skilled volunteers, including a doctor and a martial arts practitioner, to sustain and expand the initiative. The demand for more workshops and ongoing investigations, driven by the app, underscores the sustained impact and importance of Kelvin's project. Furthermore, strategic collaboration with Malaysian influencer Nadira (@nadiraisaac) in an educational workshop increased visibility and interest in the Pahlawan programming, amplifying the project's reach and influence.
Kelvin was a participant in the IVLP Project Anti-TIP Systems in the United States organized by the U.S. Department of State and Meridian International Center.
Kelvin's exchange experience led to the development of his IVLP Impact Award Project: "There are two major things that I took from my IVLP experience. The first, is how grassroots [movements] played a role in creating actionable awareness which eventually became state policies...The second, is [how] trauma-informed awareness led to how victims of human trafficking are [now] treated. This made me think through how [I can] make awareness [in a way that is] practical and actionable. "
