Justin Peterson is Managing Partner of DCI Group, one of Washington’s most respected communications and public affairs firms. Mr. Peterson’s career in the political and public policy arena spans more than twenty five years, and he has helped to grow DCI Group into one of the largest independently owned firms of its kind in the United States. Justin currently serves as a Member of the Financial Oversight and Management Board for Puerto Rico, a position to which he was appointed by President Trump in 2020.
Justin has built DCI’s financial services practice into one of the most effective specialists in investor and creditor representation in the United States. Justin has created numerous investor advocacy organizations and has served as the communications and public affairs advisor to a number of creditor committees in some of the most high-profile bankruptcies and sovereign debt disputes in recent history, including Puerto Rico, General Motors and Argentina. A key focus of Justin’s advisory practice has been to bridge collaboration between large and small investors who have, in recent years, found common ground in advocating for the rule of law governing investor and creditor rights.
Justin has also specialized in the areas of energy and environmental policy. He has helped to develop and lead successful campaigns aimed at the enactment of policies that will ensure America’s future energy security and economic growth. He advises DCI’s clients on a range of issues related to energy and climate and has led delegations of journalists and NGOs to United Nations conferences in Africa, Asia, Europe, and South America on issues ranging from climate change, biological diversity, global health, and trade. These efforts have supported the U.S. business community by advocating pro-development solutions to global challenges.
Prior to his tenure at DCI Group, Justin worked in political campaigns and as an aide on Capitol Hill. In the 2000 election cycle, he served as Iowa Political Director for Secretary Elizabeth Dole’s campaign for president. He later worked in Iowa for President George W. Bush’s successful 2000 campaign. Justin got his start in politics working for Rep. Jon Christensen (R-NE), serving on the Congressman’s campaigns and as an aide in Washington.
A native of Nebraska, Justin attended the University of Nebraska-Omaha, where he was elected president of the student body and served as an ex-officio member the University of Nebraska Board of Regents. He currently resides in Washington, D.C. with his family.
