Gabriela Ivan is the administrative officer of the International Science Council, the world’s largest international NGO that brings together the natural and social sciences, with a membership of more than 200 international scientific organizations, academies and research councils. Previously she was the International Partnerships Manager of FIRST Tech Challenge Romania, the biggest robotics and STEM education program for high school students in Europe and the third largest in the world.
Gabriela is actively engaged in the fields of science diplomacy, sustainable development, technology and innovation and has been a speaker, moderator, fellow and program organizer in partnership with the United Nations, UNESCO, U.S. Embassy in Romania, Geneva Science and Diplomacy Anticipator, Geneva Center for Security Policy, Berlin Science Week, Paris School of International Affairs and with many other embassies, universities and organizations.
Gabriela completed her bachelor’s degree in international economic relations at the American University of Bucharest and her master's in development, international cooperation and humanitarian aid at the National University of Political Studies and Public Administration in Bucharest. She also studied diplomacy and global governance at Sciences Po, Paris School of International Affairs. She was a 2019 Science Engager of Year Finalist and the 2018 Global Leaders Fellow for Emerging Nonprofit Executives.
The Ukrainian Cultural Festival was a manifesto for solidarity, peace and resilience. This one-day festival, organized in Bucharest, showcased Ukrainian national culture through visual arts, music, dance, food, and more. It featured Ukrainian nationals currently living in Romania and celebrated the beauty the Ukrainian culture. The festival sent a message of hope in troubling times of war and increased awareness around the need to support Ukrainian nationals while in Romania.
