The program trained and certified 30 young journalists and journalism students from Brazilian peripheries and small cities in fact-checking techniques and media literacy. Through an eight-part training series, participants learned about fact-checking tools, journalistic techniques to combat misinformation, monitoring of false content and initiatives for distribution of verified content on digital platforms. The project focused on media literacy actions to support the development of critical thinking. Participants developed two projects focused on producing fact-checks for radio stations in small cities and media literacy for schools through a board game.
Flávia participated in the IVLP Project Fortifying Brazilian Resilience to Disinformation, organized by the U.S. Department of State and Meridian International Center, in partnership with the New York Program Branch, GlobalAustin and World Partnerships Inc.
Flávia's exchange experience led to the development of her IVLP Impact Award Project: "The experience of participating in the IVLP was essential and the inspiration for this project."
