The project will democratize access to IT education for economically disadvantaged communities. The unique aspect of this project is its mobile nature. It operates as a caravan that visits four different cities, ensuring a wider reach and impact. Leveraging the insights and connections gained from the IVLP experience, community IT labs, mobile learning platforms, mentorship programs, and scholarships will be established in each city. The project opens new opportunities for economic growth and social mobility, teaching IT skills and building a digital future for all. The project’s impact will not only be measured by the number of individuals it has reached, but also by the ripple effect it has created in the communities it serves.
Fethi’s Caravan officially kicked off in mid-October in Tiaret. He held three days of in-person training for 15 participants and will continue to hold online learning sessions for the participants for a month. The second portion of the training will be held in El Bayadh at the end of October with the same format of 3 days of in-person workshops and then a month of online learning for the participants.
In December, Fethi will organize the final two training courses in Adrar and Tamanrasst. The goal is to train 80 total participants by the end of the project.
Fethi Boukhors participated in the IVLP Project Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development, organized by the U.S. Department of State and World Learning, in partnership with Global Santa Fe, Global Ties ABQ, World Affairs Council of Dallas/Fort Worth, and WorldBoston.
Fethi Boukhors’s exchange experience led to the development of his project: “During my IVLP experience, I was deeply inspired by the community-driven initiatives I encountered, particularly during my visit to Albuquerque. Two projects that left a lasting impression on me were “One Million Cups,” a program that connects entrepreneurs with their communities, fostering a culture of open communication and collaboration, and “Fuse Makerspace,” a community workspace where individuals can learn about and work with various materials and technologies, simply by subscribing to the service. These experiences motivated me to focus on individuals who lack access to resources and information, rather than those who already have them. These experiences and connections from my IVLP journey will be instrumental in the implementation of my IVLP Impact Award project. The knowledge I gained about community engagement and resource sharing will guide the development of my project, and the connections I made will provide valuable insights and support.”
