Evan Hochberg serves as United Way Worldwide’s first Chief Strategy Officer. In this capacity, he leads the organization’s development of overall strategy as well as innovation and alignment across major areas of the enterprise. In addition, Hochberg leads the United Way Worldwide’s community impact team that engages 1,800 United Ways and external partners in over 40 countries around the world to develop and implement the organization’s impact strategy. Hochberg serves on the organization’s executive management team.
Hochberg served as National Director of Corporate Citizenship for Deloitte LLP, where he was responsible for the company’s philanthropic portfolio and engineered its ground-breaking pro bono program and award-winning efforts in education. Before joining Deloitte, Hochberg was the managing director of Community Wealth Partners, a leading social innovation consulting firm focused on driving transformational impact by providing strategic and technical advice to nonprofits, corporations and foundations.
Hochberg has been mission-driven his entire life. While in high school he created his own credited course involving volunteerism and helped initiate the first-ever basketball program for the Special Olympics of Orange County North Carolina while an undergraduate at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. His early career included frontline roles in the nonprofit sector at the March of Dimes and Melwood.
Hochberg received a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from the UNC-CH and a master’s in management of human services from the Heller School at Brandeis University. He lives in Rockville, Md., with his wife and two children.
