Ebirim Rose Elechi is an entrepreneur and founding president of the NGO Jah-Live Art, Culture and Environment. Jah-Live Art is a cultural space in Grand-Bassam, Côte d'Ivoire that unites the community through art, food, music and other cultural activities.
Ebirim's project mobilized the communities of Sud-Comoé by raising awareness of the Covid-19 vaccine and training the community in the practice of acceptance of the vaccine. The activities had a positive impact in reducing the spread of the disease and mortality amongst the most vulnerable communities.
Through her project, Ebirim organized four mass publicity campaigns centered on public health and COVID-19 vaccine awareness that reached 1000 people. 20 volunteers were trained to raise awareness among local communities about the danger of COVID-19 and to explain the benefits of vaccination.
The project also included a workshop to inform participants of the local COVID-19 health vaccination systems. Over 200 communication tool kits were given out to local community actors and participants were trained on how to share news about the COVID-19 vaccine effectively.
Ebirim was a participant in the IVLP Project Youth and Civic Engagement in 2021, organized by the U.S. Department of State and FHI 360.
Her exchange experience led to the development of her IVLP Impact Award Project: "Thanks to the IVLP program and training, I am now a leader and model of success within the community."
