Dr. Patricia M. Lewis is the Research Director of International Security at Chatham House in London. Her former posts include Deputy Director and Scientist-in-Residence at the Center for Nonproliferation Studies at the Monterey Institute of International Studies; Director of the United Nations Institute for Disarmament Research in Geneva; and Director of Verification Training, Research, and Information Center in London. Dr. Lewis was also a member of the Weapons of Mass Destruction Commission and an adviser to the 2008-2010 International Commission on Nuclear Non-proliferation and Disarmament. She holds a Bachelor of Physics from Manchester University and a Ph.D. in Nuclear Physics from Birmingham University.
