Dr. Jeffrey Sammons is a Professor of History at New York University and a Historical Advisory Board Member of the U.S. World War I Centennial Commission. His areas of research and interest include African-American history, military history, and sports history. Dr. Sammons is the author of Beyond the Ring: The Role of Boxing in American Society and co-author of Harlem's Rattlers and the Great War: The Undaunted 369th Regiment and the African American Quest for Equality. He holds a Bachelor of History from Rutgers College, graduating magna cum laude. He graduated from Tufts University with a Master's degree in history and received his Ph.D. in American History from the University of North Carolina.
