David Zhang joined Visa in 2011 as the Head of Government Relations in China.

Prior to Visa, David was the Company Secretary and Chief Corporate Affairs Officer for Liberty Insurance (China) since 2005. In 2003, David worked as the Company Secretary and Legal & Compliance Head for Skandia-BSAM Life Insurance Co., Ltd. Prior to that, he was the Corporate Affairs Head with Sunlife Everbright Life Insurance Co., Ltd. In 1996, he joined Guardian Royal Exchange Assurance plc as the Chief Representative of the Beijing Office. He started his career with the Ministry of Internal Trade of PRC as a World Bank project officer in 1993.

David was the Chair of Insurance Forum, American Chamber of Commerce in China (2009-2011) and a member of the Corporate Governance Committee, China Insurance Association (2010-2011).

David has a Bachelor’s degree in English Language and Literature from Beijing Foreign Studies University and Master’s degree in Banking & Currency from Central University of Finance and Economics in Beijing.
