Daniel F. Sheehan is Senior Vice President for International Affairs, working for the Public Policy office in Washington DC.
Dan focuses on geopolitical risk abroad as it applies to Bank of America investments, to provide early warning of negative developments. To that end, he maintains relationships with officials from numerous foreign governments.
Prior to joining the bank, Dan served in the Central Intelligence Agency, where he was awarded the Distinguished Career Intelligence Medal. This decoration is the highest possible career medal bestowed by CIA, and was in recognition for his performance as an operations officer in the Clandestine Service. Dan retired with the highest possible personal rank at CIA, the organization’s equivalent of a four star general. He served overseas multiple times as a Chief of Station, and multiple times in Washington D.C. as a Directorate of Operations Component Chief, managing world-wide field operations on particular issues. He deployed operationally to more than 40 countries on six continents. During his career, he was the most senior officer managing CIA’s relationship with the Department of Defense, and with the U.S. Law Enforcement Community. He served case officer tours in the Near East, Balkans, and Western Europe, and Headquarters management tours in the Counter-terrorism Center, Office of General Counsel, and the Inspector General’s Staff. Dan has had extensive experience briefing in the White House Situation Room and testifying in front of the Congress.
