The project fought disinformation in Argentina by discussing the factors that cause disinformation, how it occurs and how it can be prevented. Capacity building events and outreach to university students and young journalists drew attention to the role of media in dissemination of information and prevention of misinformation.
An on-site training session at Austral University engaged 250 individuals, including political science, international relations and media students, young journalists and NGO members. In partnership with Chequeado, a manual on “How to respond to misinformation during international events” was created, which served as a key resource, offering insights and examples to guide efforts. The manual, which played a pivotal role in facilitating in-depth discussions, is available here: https://chequeado.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/Informe-Desinformacion-durante-eventos-internacionales.pdf.
