IVLP Impact Award Project: Mother-Daughter STEAM Camp Project

The project empowered and encouraged young girls' interest in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) education by equipping mothers with the knowledge and confidence to support their daughters' learning journey. Two camp classes were organized where 27 girls ages 7-12 engaged in STEAM topics such as coding, creating online games, science and art. Two classes were organized for their mothers, focusing on digital literacy, creative skills, tech for daily life and tech for business. These classes equipped mothers with the necessary understanding and confidence to actively support their daughters' interest in STEAM and create a nurturing environment at home. A final mother-daughter class on STEAM topics encouraged bonding and collaboration between mothers and daughters, further reinforcing the support system for girls' STEAM education. The project culminated in an online mini–STEAM Fair, which showcased the collaborative work of mother-daughter pairs. This fair not only celebrated the achievements of the participants but also served as an inclusive platform for the wider mother-child community to explore and appreciate STEAM. Five inspirational videos were produced that highlighted women in STEM fields and shared tips about creativity and how to inspire girls aged 7-12 to learn more about STEAM.

Anantya was also a panelist for the IVLP Impact Awards Alumni Discussion Series panel on “Youth & STEM,” which you can read more about here.
