Amelia joined Meridian in September 2001. Amelia has extensive working experience in the international field after a career of over 20 years in the Foreign Service of the Republic of Cape Verde. She served as Administrative Attaché at the Permanent Mission of Cape Verde to the United Nations, as Chief Administrative Officer and Financial Analyst at the Embassy of Cape Verde to the United States, and as Consular Officer and Assistant to the Consul General at the Consulate General of Cape Verde in Boston, Massachusetts. She also worked and lived in Praia, and San Vicente, Republic of Cape Verde, Lisbon, Portugal, Luanda, Republic of Angola, Bern and Basel, Switzerland, Buenos Aires, Argentina, and Dakar, Republic of Senegal. She earned her Bachelor degree in Business Administration, Management, from Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts, and completed the following additional coursework: Writing at Work, Advanced Conversational French Review from Georgetown University, Advanced Conversational Spanish, at Howard University, CLEP- French Examination (12 credits) at Northeastern University, and one year Certificate English as a Second Language at The International Institute of Boston, Massachusetts. She speaks Portuguese, Spanish, French, Cape Verdean Dialect, ASL and some Angolan Kimbundu (native languages from the Republic of Angola).
