Alfy Davis is a civil engineer with a steadfast commitment to fostering sustainable development and community empowerment. Currently serving as the Engineer for the Integrated Economic Development and Community Resilience (IEDCR) Project at the Ministry of Provincial Government in the Solomon Islands, Alfy plays a vital role in driving initiatives aimed at enhancing economic prosperity and climate resilience infrastructures at the provincial level.
Alfy obtained a civil engineering degree from Fiji National University, where he acquired a strong technical foundation and a deep understanding of engineering principles. He previously served as the Provincial Engineer with the Guadalcanal Provincial Government before joining the IEDCR Project’s project management unit at the Ministry of Provincial Government. During his tenure as Provincial Engineer, Alfy gained invaluable experience in managing engineering projects and collaborating with local communities to address climate resilient infrastructure needs. This experience provided Alfy with firsthand insights into the challenges and opportunities faced by communities in the Solomon Islands, shaping his commitment to inclusive and sustainable development. Alfy's leadership is defined by a collaborative and inclusive approach, where he prioritizes community engagement, capacity-building, and empowerment. With a vision for a resilient and prosperous Solomon Islands, Alfy continues to inspire and lead efforts towards inclusive development, fostering partnerships, and empowering communities to build a brighter future for all.
The project addresses critical challenges faced by the Solomon Islands, including food security concerns, climate change crises, and high rates of youth unemployment. It focuses on empowering youth with the skills and resources needed to address immediate challenges related to food security and unemployment and contribute to long-term sustainability, resilience, and prosperity in the country. Through collaboration and partnership, the project aims to create a positive impact that extends beyond individual participants, benefiting entire communities and laying the foundation for a more resilient and prosperous future in the Solomon Islands.
Alfy conducted an “Introduction to Business” and “Introduction to Beekeeping” training for 15 youth participants. Following the trainings, participants visited existing bee farms to gain hands-on experience and practical knowledge.
Alfy participated in the IVLP Project Promoting Climate Resilience, Economic Development, and Good Governance in the Pacific organized by the U.S. Department of State and Meridian International Center, in partnership with GlobalJax, World Affairs Council – Seattle, WorldBoston andWorld Trade Center Institute.
