IVLP Impact Award Project: Educational Workshop on Agrarian Property Law in Rural Areas of Venezuela and Its Judicial Mechanisms of Protection and Defense

This project educated members of rural communities in Yaracuy, Falcón, and Zulia, Venezuela, on their constitutional property rights and protections established in the Venezuelan legal system. More than 300 people from 11  municipalities participated in three workshops focused on agrarian property law and the rights of private property owners in rural areas dedicated to agricultural production. The project promoted the value and importance of the right to property and the use of judicial means for peaceful resolutions to any conflicts that may arise around agricultural property.

The importance of this type of training lies in the humility and simplicity with which the workshop was given to the public...Professor Alexis Algarra...managed to reach the public very easily, sharing [his] training in property law that is so necessary in those rural areas where the majority of people dedicate their lives to agricultural activity.” - Workshop Participant
