Adamou Yazi is a certified entrepreneurship trainer who has founded two companies and a media business in Niger. He founded ACCEntrepreneur, an independent training center in business and entrepreneurship to support, train and connect entrepreneurs and help them with access to finances. Adamou also initiated and co-founded the Niger Business Angels Network, an organization that works with hundreds of new and established female entrepreneurs to help them develop and advocates to increase the number of women-owned and operated enterprises in Niger. Currently, Yazi is the National Managing Director for the Global Entrepreneurship Network (GEN) Niger.
The project empowered 24 students at the University of Technology in Dosso, Niger, with the entrepreneurship skills to gain sustainable employment. A workshop, bootcamp and community outreach campaign introduced the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Participants then identified five challenges in the Dosso community and presented proposed solutions to them. The mayor of Dosso attended the event at which solutions were presented and is interested in initiating some of the solutions locally.
Adamou participated in the IVLP Project Entrepreneurship as the Engine of Prosperity and Stability - Small Business Development organized by the U.S. Department of State and Meridian International Center in partnership with WorldOrlando and WorldChicago.
Adamou's exchange experience led to the development of his IVLP Impact Award Project: "I was impressed by the way the Illinois Institute of Technology incorporates technology in all industry sectors they support. This project is to emulate this experience and implement that in my community at some level."
