WASHINGTON, D.C.—Meridian International Center and the Organization of America States (OAS) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) today, which will see the two organizations collaborating to strengthen cooperation in areas of mutual interest, including global leadership, democratic integrity, competitiveness, and public-private partnership.
Signed by OAS Secretary General Luis Almagro and Meridian CEO Ambassador Stuart Holliday, the partnership will see both organizations work to advance integral development, defend human rights, and foster multidimensional security across the Americas.
The OAS and Meridian intend to jointly develop and implement convening programs and exchanges, receptions, business briefings, and educational engagements, which include hosting relevant visiting legislative delegations and Ministers. They also plan to tap into a collective pool of expertise by developing professional exchanges for OAS and Meridian delegations. The partnership will take effect immediately, allowing both organizations to work seamlessly.
“As two organizations focused on fostering international cooperation, the joint work of the OAS and Meridian will contribute to enriching political discussion, policy analysis and decision-making in the areas of democracy, human rights, multidimensional security and integral development. We look forward to working together to advance our common goals in the Americas, and to strengthen communication and understanding between OAS member states and key stakeholders on global leadership, diplomatic engagement, culture, and corporate diplomacy,” shared Secretary General Luis Almagro.

By working together, we can leverage our respective strengths and expertise to create impactful and sustainable solutions. The MOU we signed today is not merely ceremonial; it is a pledge to our shared dedication towards a more secure, prosperous, and just future for all the nations and peoples of the Americas,” shared Ambassador Stuart Holliday.
Diplomacy continues to evolve rapidly, and both organizations recognize the need to act now to ensure a shared approach to broaden the diplomatic landscape, which can keep pace with emerging issues and new actors.
