On October 1, 2014, Meridian welcomed public affairs experts from DCI Group to engage with international visitors on “Women’s Public Leadership: Campaigns, Media, Fundraising.” The thirteen visitors from Saudi Arabia, who were part of the U.S. State Department’s International Visitor Leadership Program, discussed how to create successful campaigns through effective messaging with DCI’s Gwen Moore Holliday, Miriam Warren, Janet Wooten, and Jessica Towhey. Through brainstorming on what makes an effective campaign slogan to dealing with difficult media questions, DCI Group shared their insights through interactive exercises designed to fully engage everyone around the table. A round of enthusiastic applause followed a practice interview, with one of the visitors being put to the proverbial test on how to stay focused and on message, in spite of a journalist’s best attempts otherwise.
