Media Advisory: Kicking Off the Week of Women & Girls in Science with a Celebration at Meridian International Center

Washington—It is widely recognized that the full participation of women and girls in STEM fields is critical. Yet, most countries are far from achieving gender equality in this area. According to UNESCO statistics, only 33.3% of researchers globally are women. We know that our ability to tackle many of the most significant global issues today, from climate change and global health security to artificial intelligence and space exploration, requires the expertise of scientists. For this reason, Meridian is proud to partner with the Women in Science Diplomacy Association (WiSDA) to launch their Week of Women & Girls in Science to promote women and girls' full and equal participation in STEM globally.

On Monday, February 5, we will bring together U.S. and international government officials, academics, and scientists who will highlight women's critical roles in science and technology while fostering a broader engagement of women in STEM on an international scale.
