This program will provide a briefing on updates and proposed changes to the U.S. export control rules related to space. The U.S. Departments of State and Commerce recently published four rulemakings affecting the export of space launch vehicles, spacecraft, and related items. The new rules offer significant regulatory relief for U.S. exporters, especially those working with allies and partners of the United States. The agencies are seeking comments on the rules by November 22, 2024.
This briefing has been arranged specifically for diplomats working on science/space collaborations with the United States. Officials from State and Commerce will provide an overview of the new rules and how they facilitate international partnerships while maintaining appropriate controls for national security. Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions of the briefers.
