As the fight against racial injustice remains at the forefront of the national dialogue, Meridian will host Representative Karen Bass (D-CA), Chair of the Congressional Black Caucus alongside Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison before an international audience of foreign ambassadors and other senior diplomats to reflect on the civil unrest that has swept the nation in the past couple of months, and provide the context needed to understand the deep-rooted frustration behind the protests that erupted across the country following the death of George Floyd while in police custody. The conversation will explore the many police reform measures being proposed both at the national and local levels. Congresswoman Bass and Attorney General Ellison will also address what this continued momentum means for the country, and how diplomats might best explain the movement to their ministries and leaders back home. AG Ellison is the lead prosecutor in the George Floyd case. The program will be moderated by Yamiche Alcindor, White House Correspondent for PBS News Hour. Please reach out to Julianne Juarez with any questions.
