Two hundred years after Simón Bolívar’s Congress of Panama charted a vision for hemispheric unity, the nations of the Americas once again face defining choices about the future of regional cooperation. As the Organization of American States (OAS) prepares to convene its 56th General Assembly in Panama City in June, member states are confronting shared challenges, from threats to democratic stability and security to the advancement of a common peace and prosperity agenda in the hemisphere.
At this pivotal moment, Meridian is honored to host His Excellency Albert Ramdin, Secretary General of the OAS, for an Insights@Meridian conversation exploring how the Inter-American system can evolve to meet the demands of a rapidly changing world. Secretary General Ramdin will outline his vision for strengthening the OAS’s role as a catalyst for inclusive growth and good governance, and outline key priorities for the General Assembly aimed at deepening collaboration and strengthening multilateralism across trade facilitation, energy and critical minerals, technology and digital finance, and human capital development.
