From Jazz to Hip-Hop, American music has been on the frontlines of diplomacy reaching millions of people around the world to collaborate and share best practices. The State Department’s Cold War jazz diplomacy program provided an opportunity to showcase an American artform and was developed to help win the hearts and minds of developing countries. Today, the U.S. Department of State continues to promote American traditions and values through its Next Level exchange program managed by Meridian’s Center for Cultural Diplomacy.
Join us to celebrate the enduring legacy of U.S. jazz ambassadors and the exchanges that paved the way for modern music diplomacy. Through live musical performances by The American Pops Orchestra, Next Level alumna Brinae Ali and Wendel Patrick, and a dynamic salon conversation, this program will showcase the impact of programs like Next Level on international audiences while underscoring the invaluable role of music diplomacy in strengthening the United States' relations abroad.
