In 2016, the United States exported one of its most recognizable symbols to mainland China: Mickey Mouse. Disney’s storybook castle is a staple in each of its theme parks, and at 60 meters (197 feet), the Shanghai location’s castle is the tallest Disney has ever built. Walt Disney, the man behind the mouse, was born in 1901, never graduated from high school, and drove ambulances during World War I before starting his career as a cartoonist.
